The old city of Khiva, Uzbekistan
Khiva (Uzbek: Xiva) is a city of approximately 50, 000 people located in Xorazm Province, Uzbekistan. The Old city is completely surrounded by adobe walls and the oldest part, Itchan Kala in Khiva was the first site in Uzbekistan to be inscribed in the World Heritage List (1991). The distinctive minaret of Kalta-Minor with a height of 29 meters has become the real symbol of the city. It was never finished. The old city gates are still there and cars are left outside the gate
