Arcaded passage in the courtyard of Daejojeon
Daejojeon is the most important of the royal residential quarters in the inner section of Changdeokgung Palace. The wide front stone terrace is covered with squarely trimmed granite blocks and is punctuated by four low-rising iron jars at the four corners, containing water for fire extinction. The area outside the living room allows access to the terrace, while another area in the back provides a passage to the rear garden. Each bedroom is equipped with small rooms attached to it from the side and the back to lodge attendants. The living room is wood-floored, furnished with large chairs, and the bedrooms and the attendants rooms are heated-floor rooms. The entire front side of the building, except the middle section, is bordered with a long narrow veranda enclosed by latticed parapets; the veranda is connected to the arcaded passage in the courtyard of Daejojeon. This location is in Seoul, South Korea
