Williams was chosen for the part after an extensive search that lasted two years, and during which over 2000 candidates were tested. He is a native of Vidalia, Louisiana, and a graduate of The University of Minnesota. He was discovered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he had formed a school for veterans.
