National Guardsman (helmets), turned back nine Negro students who tried to enroll in the all-white school. The guardsmen, following orders of Governor Orval Faubus, forcibly prevented racial desegregation of the school. The crowd shouted anti-Negro phases, but made no attempt to harm the Negroes. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm).
