HMS Vanguard at sea: In the sailors traditional ceremony by which folks crossing the equator for the first time are hazed into the ancient and honorable order of shellbacks by fancy dressed members of Neptune's Court, the British royal princesses get the works as the battleship HMS Vanguard crosses the line with the royal family aboard. Of course the proceedings were not as rough as usual, and the hardening treatment not too tough -- there was no enthusiastic application of paddles to royal persons -- nor dunking of royal bodies into the ship's pool, but princesses Elizabeth and her younger sister Margaret Rose did have to stand for the impromptu beauty shop treatment shown here. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
