(Original Caption). Tokyo, Japan: GI Polio Victim Taken To Tokyo In Iron Lung. Polio stricken GI Ralph Dosch, 24, of North Hollywood, California, is wheeled down the station platform in Tokyo following his trip by rail in an iron lung from Sendai, Northern Japan. Dosch has been in an iron lung ever since he was hospitalized with Polio, October 4th. Transporting him to Tokyo involved officials of two nations, work by ten Army units, and the services of more than 100 individual technicians. He had to be transported by special railroad car as the roads were found too narrow for the truck required to carry the lung. The nurse is 2nd Lt. Glen Droddy. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
