Henry VIII presided over the beginnings of the English Renaissance and the English Reformation. Henry is best known for his six marriages, including his efforts to have his first marriage annulled.  His six wives were, successively, Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr
