Regarded as one of the greatest and most influential illustrators in the field of children's literature Randolph Caldecott was an English artist who illustrated picture books, fiction, verse, and fables for children as well as novels, poetry, and non-fiction for adults. He is best known for creating sixteen picture books that feature traditional nursery rhymes and songs and for his satirical drawings and coloured book illustrations that won him great popularity.
