Amusing illustrations for children
Friedrich Johann Justin Bertuch (1747-1822) was a German publisher and patron of the arts who had an interest in the education of the public. This is a collection of illustrations from various contributors to the Picture-book for Children which was published in Weimar in 1790 and between then and 1830 (after Bertuch's death) it appeared in monthly instalments, grouped into 12 volumes. Illustrations of animals, plants, flowers, fruits, minerals, costumes, antiquities and other objects were instructive and amusing for children.
