28th May 1955: The bride and bridegroom, Christine and Angus McDonald, following a local piper to the reception at a travelling peoples wedding in the village of Tong on the island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. It is the first time in Lewis history that a woman of the travelling people has been married in white at a local church, and also the first time many of the travelling people, known as Tinkers, had been photographed.
