Isola Bella, Italy Featured Nick Brundle Travel Photography Print

Isola Bella, Italy

The island of Isola Bella is perhaps the most admired destination on Lake Maggiore. It derives its fame from its stunning Baroque palace and elaborate Italian gardens. It was the crowning glory of a group of famous Italian architects in the 17th century who, thanks to generous sponsorship from the Borromeo family, were able to create a unique masterpiece. There are a number of peacock birds that roam round the gardens which adds charm to the gardens

St. Pauls Cathedral, London, United Kingdom

St Paul's Cathedral, London, is an Anglican cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London and the mother church of the Diocese of London. It sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London. Its dedication to Paul the Apostle dates back to the original church on this site, founded in AD 604. The present church, dating from the late 17th century, was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren. Its construction, completed in Wren's lifetime, was part of a major rebuilding programme in the City after the Great Fire of London

Petrified Forest, Deadvlei, Namib desert, Namibia, Africa Featured Nick Brundle Travel Photography Print

Petrified Forest, Deadvlei, Namib desert, Namibia, Africa

Deadvlei is a white clay pan located near the more famous salt pan of Sossusvlei, inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia. The remaining skeletons of the trees, which are believed to have died 600a??700 years ago, are now black because the intense sun has scorched them. Though not petrified, the wood does not decompose because it is so dry. This creates a particularly fascinating and surrealistic landscape, that appears in innumerable pictures and has been used as a setting for films and videos
