A Lens on Humanity
Capturing Raw Emotion and Life's Unexpected Turns
Leonard McCombe captured some of the most iconic images of the 20th century while working for Picture Post and Life magazine. At 21, he became the youngest Fellow in the history of the Royal Photographic Society and his photography is known for its candid nature and ability to capture people at their most open and revealing moments. With his art, McCombe aimed to provoke thought rather than simply entertain with his work, and he succeeded in capturing both the grace and gravity of the human experience.
